About Laura.
Laura has an outstanding passion for, and knowledge of, dentistry. Entering dentistry in 1996 she has experienced many different dental environments - NHS, mixed, hospital, community, private and top end private cosmetic and orthodontic practices.
Laura is a qualified RDN, dental radiographer and has a merit in oral health education. She has also studied Sales Management and Marketing at diploma level and is studying for an MBA. Laura has extensive management experience in dentistry. She has worked with one of the USA’s leading coaches in her last employment which helped her to acquire many new skills which have been adapted and brought to the UK marketplace.
Laura was employed by one of the UK’s leading cosmetic and implant practices, where her principal describes her as the best employee he ever had and recommends her services continuously! This practice appeared regularly in the media as well as on hit TV programmes such as Extreme Makeover UK. They were renowned for their high level of patient care, patient service and success as a dental practice.
Laura was responsible for the management of the two practices in addition to the successful training academy that was owned by the practice. Due to Laura’s responsibilities she could no longer act as the treatment coordinator and trained other team members to perform the role – this gave Laura the motivation to begin her own business.
Laura has been successfully working with dentists and their teams since 2005 and through her own company since 2008. She has a ‘sleeves rolled up’ attitude and thrives in her unique hands on style of delivery.
She has helped dental practices to achieve high levels of success with her understanding of the UK market and behavioural attitudes of the public. Laura knows that each practice is different and that this must be taken into account as well as the individual needs of the principals/partners associates and team.
Laura works equally with both the country’s award winning practices, and with those that are just embarking on the new journey of establishing a dental practice.
She regularly lectures throughout the country on courses and at seminars on the value of the Treatment Coordinator role, and business development generally. A self taught dental photographer, she also teaches photography to AACD standard.
The DiSc personality system is also comprehensively understood and taught by Laura to all personnel in dentistry, including representatives of dental companies.
Laura’s passion now lies with the training and implementation of the TCO role, as well as helping practices achieve their true potential with her business development programmes.
Laura’s influential role in introducing the treatment coordinator role into UK practices (with her unrivalled and infectious enthusiasm) is how Laura Horton is making a name for herself as the latest "gem" in dentistry.
About Sara
In June 2010 Sara Reece came to work along side Laura Horton, adding her considerable knowledge, skills and experience as a Business Development Consultant to the services already offered and provided by Laura Horton Consulting.
Sara is a Registered General Nurse and has been actively involved in the dental sector for many years. Since 1987 she has worked ‘hands-on’ with the ownership, directorship and management of three dental practices. She has also set-up, established and continues to own and over-manage two successful and highly accredited children's nursery schools.
Sara has considerable experience in operational, HR and financial management and the development and implementation of procedural systems. She also has up to date knowledge and understanding of the operational challenges associated with the delivery of dentistry within the NHS, mixed and private dental practice sectors.
These skills, combined with a passion for interior and creative design, culminated in the success associated with the set-up and establishment of the award winning Reece Associates Dental Care Solutions and Smilescool @ Reece Associates between 2007 and 2009. Sara’s achievement, as former Partner and MD, is the culmination of everything she has learned in her career journey, stylishly packaged and presented for the public and team to enjoy.
Sara is also CEO of Smilescool – the innovative, revolutionary children’s dental care and education programme that is attracting great interest within the dental profession. Sara has had significant influence on the design, development and practical delivery of the Smilescool programme. She is responsible for leading the company, partner relationships and the operational management involved in the assessment of and smooth roll-out to other practices wishing to benefit through Smilescool Affiliation.
Sara brings not only her business development knowledge, skills, experience and proven track record, but also empathy with her colleagues and peers delivered with positive attitude, a sense of humour and the ability to ‘think outside the box’.
